We’re proud to have helped deliver 12 refurbished laptops to The Foxton Centre, a Preston charity supporting vulnerable young people.

The devices, originally from UCLan’s IT estate, were refurbished by Recycle IT—reskinned, upgraded to Windows 11, fitted with new keyboards, and backed by a two-year warranty. Delivered to Foxton’s new youth centre in Avenham, they’ll be used for training and digital access projects.

Foxton CEO Cath Coffey said:
“This generous donation completes our training room and ensures digital access for young people wherever it’s needed.”

This initiative was made possible by Ed Walker, Founder of Blog Preston and UCLan Leader in Residence, who brought together UCLan, Blog Preston, and Recycle IT to support digital inclusion.

Chris Hatton, UCLan’s Senior Technical Manager, added:
“We’re delighted to see our redundant IT making a real impact locally.”

Alongside the social value, the donation also delivered measurable environmental benefits:

This initiative is a great example of how repurposed IT can provide a second life for still-valuable equipment while supporting those who need it most — both locally and sustainably.

We’d like to thank The Foxton Centre, UCLan, and Blog Preston for making this possible.

At Recycle IT, we’re committed to keeping technology out of landfill and putting it back into the hands of people who can benefit — where it belongs.
