How RecycleIT helps keep COVID at bay

Since COVID-19 was announced early last year, it has shifted our way of working and living drastically, and it isn’t over yet. That’s why here at RecycleIT, we are taking every step that we can to ensure the safety of our customers, partners and employees by strictly following best practices and safety guidelines.

We want to continue our vital services, but we do not wish to do so at the risk of others. Take a look at the steps we are taking, to ensure your safety below and rest easy in the knowledge that we will collect and recycle your waste IT assets risk-free.

The goal of this guidance

Of course, customer and employer health and safety are at the top of our list of objectives when following the guidance. We’re driven to create agreed-upon practices that correctly adhere to the restrictions surrounding COVID-19 when collecting and disposing of your waste IT assets.

The government guidelines are essential to follow, and we want to ensure that we do so to the best of our ability to help decrease this virus’s spread. Helping those who are limiting their operations due to COVID is also important to us. We want to encourage a safe return to work for those who are undergoing business as usual.

One of our most significant objectives, besides our people’s health and safety, is to ensure that the IT assets we dispose of are not at risk of data breaches during the transaction.

The steps we have taken

There are several different rules that we are enforcing to ensure the safety and wellbeing of both our employees and clients alike. We’re ensuring that our workers maintain the 2m distancing rule to minimise unnecessary physical contact with others.

Start and break times are staggered so that we can decrease the number of staff together at any one time. Cleaning and disinfecting our premises regularly is also critical to ensure our staff and partners’ health and safety.

As well as regularly cleaning our premises, we require our staff to periodically clean our service vehicles and wash and disinfect their hands with the sanitising hand gel that we provide for individual staff members and vehicles. We have signage throughout our offices, reinforcing this message.

With collections requiring two people, we do our best to safeguard both our people and our client. Paperwork is not signed, and instead, a verbal agreement is made with the client as proof of delivery or collection of goods. Our two-person crews are deployed in separate vehicles to maintain social distancing and reduce the risk of cross-contamination. Each crew member is issued with disposable gloves, hand sanitiser for their person and vehicle, and a new face mask each day.

Following the government guidelines

As well as adopting best practices and guidelines of our own, we also incorporate the government guidelines into our strategy. All staff are often reminded of these guidelines to ensure safeguarding for our customers and employees.

The usual rules apply to all of us at RecycleIT, including a 14-day isolation period if you have been diagnosed with the virus, have symptoms, or have been in contact with someone who is suspected of having COVID-19.

If you have travelled internationally and have returned recently, you must isolate for 14 days regardless of if you are showing symptoms or not. We appreciate that carriers may not show signs, so we do our best to reiterate this to our employees who have recently returned from travelling.

It’s a two-way street.

To help us in our efforts to keep you safe, we ask that all of our customers also adhere to these guidelines and best practices where possible. We do not require you to sign any paperwork upon collecting your IT assets; however, a verbal confirmation is required.

We ask that you make the waste IT equipment easily accessible by our staff members, preferably all in one place and close to an entrance/exit so that our staff can minimise the time spent on your premises and reduce risk.

Please be mindful when dealing with our employees, as they would with you. Maintain the 2m social distance at all times and wear masks where appropriate. Please try cleaning the IT equipment that is being collected to the best of your ability before handing it over to us.

Stay safe when recycling your IT assets!

As you can see, we are taking every possible precaution to ensure your safety and the safety of our staff during this difficult time. We understand that business and life go on, and we do appreciate your efforts in minimising the risk of the COVID-19 pandemic for all.
